Welcome to UCF RESTORES (RESearch and Treatment On Response to Extreme Stressors)!
UCF RESTORES is a clinical research center dedicated to the study of all facets of anxiety, trauma and posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) including etiology, psychopathology, treatment, resilience and prevention. A unique feature of UCF RESTORES is the development and use of established and emerging technologies to enhance prevention and intervention efforts. Thus, UCF RESTORES exemplifies the bench to bedside scope of activities.
UCF RESTORES is part of the Department of Psychology at the University of Central Florida. Its clinical research activities are diverse; including studies designed to elucidate phenomenology, developmental course, etiology, treatment development and evaluation, methodology development and evaluation, and the systematic examination of resilience and prevention. The center serves as an educational and consultative resource for Central Florida area and maintains liaison with other major anxiety disorders centers nationally and internationally. Currently the clinic is engaged in collaborative efforts with researchers in Brazil, Norway and Spain.
UCF RESTORES is committed to translational research as well – we are interested in developing intervention and prevention efforts that can be used outside the traditional clinic settings. Thus, many of our efforts focus on virtual reality, telehealth, smartphone and iPad technologies to enhance traditional intervention and delivery strategies.
Finally, UCF RESTORES serves as a major research and clinical training site for graduate students and postdoctoral fellows as well as providing educational opportunities for professionals who wish to learn about our treatment programs. Furthermore, the clinic seeks to develop relationships with other programs where there are prospects for mutually rewarding collaborative efforts in training.
We regret that due to our extensive waiting list and our expanding grant programs in post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and social anxiety disorder, at this time we are only able to offer treatment for adults who have PTSD, or children who have Selective Mutism, or Social Anxiety Disorder.
