Shannon Whitten is a highly experienced academic with a deep interest in the crossroads of psychology and art. She earned her Ph.D. in Cognitive Psychology from the University of Memphis in 2003. She’s been a committed faculty member at the University of Central Florida for over 20 years, where she’s now a Senior Lecturer. Shannon’s academic journey led her to write “Psychology, Art, and Creativity” in 2023, a book exploring the intricate connection between human psychology and artistic creation. Currently, she is working with the UCF Global Study Abroad program, teaching her Psychology of Art course in Barcelona, Spain. She served as Vice President and is currently the Secretary of IGEL, The International Society for the Empirical Study of Literature. Her work continually highlights the important links between psychology and the arts. Besides her teaching and writing, Shannon is a visual artist in Melbourne, Florida.
