Research Interests

Leslie DeChurch is the newest member of the Industrial/Organizational Psychology Faculty! Dr. DeChurch joined the IO team as an Assistant Professor in the Fall of 2007, after having been an Assistant Professor of IO Psychology and IO Graduate Program Director at Florida International University in Miami, FL. Dr. DeChurch's research interests include team and multiteam effectiveness, leadership, conflict and negotiations, and work and family balance. Dr. DeChurch leads the newly initiated DELTA research laboratory at UCF, a team of talented graduate and undergraduate students creating knowledge useful for "Developing Effective Leaders, Teams, and Alliances" in modern organizations. The DELTA Lab is currently using pc-based gaming simulations to explore the impact of leadership processes on team collaboration, adaptability to change, and cross-team networking. Other DELTA research efforts include a review of leadership methodology, survey of work unit-based family facilitation behavior, and several meta-analytic investigations of factors important to team functioning. Dr. DeChurch's research has appeared in the Journal of Applied Psychology, Leadership Quarterly, Journal of Applied Social Psychology, Group Dynamics: Theory, Research, & Practice and the International Journal of Conflict Management.
